Long, Hot Summer

It is so hot already!  If it weren't for swimming and crickets, I wouldn't like summer at all!

At least I no longer feel compelled to creat for anything except Halloween!!!  Below is Mariah.  She is buttery soft and sweet as can be.

And here is Buff.  He's a bit of a whiner.  I have to put in time out quite often, but I don't think he'll ever learn.  He likes the negative attention too much!

I'm having way too much fun creating spooky houses from old wooden and plastic houses and images I print.  I wondering if I should add glimmer?  I wonder if I should sell some on Etsy?

Multimedia Art!?

Here's an attempt at multimedia art....

It's composed of newsprint, paper cutouts, a tag with netting and a metal heart charm, on ripped cardboard with gesso and acrylic paint.  It evolved over several months.  I call it "That's Gratitude for You".  Creative, aren't I?  (That was meant to be facetious.)

Well, it was fun to make.

A vintage Articulated Rabbit Freebie

I bought a vintage cardboard Easter decoration that had been damaged.  I scanned it then fixed it up using Adobe Photoshop Elements.  I added a foot that had been torn off, cleaned up some tears and removed the ears so it could be printed and reassembled.

After Easter comes Alice in Wonderland day, so here are some of my crafts in preparation.  They are found items that needed love and/or rebirth:

Bunnies

Here are some colorful bunnies my daughter Ashley helped me make.  A primitive shape, some colorful fabric from a skirt I loved, but just wouldn't look right on me (the hips).  Ashley picked out the eyes.  We had fun.

OOAK Barbie Dolls

I went through a Barbie phase.  For a period, I bought nearly every Barbie and outfit from the 50s through the early 70s.  I rerooted several of the extra doll's hair.  Then I started getting creative and started making outfits and hairdo's for my own one of a kind (OOAK) dolls.  Mostly medievil, renaissance dolls.  A few scary.  I'll start posting pictures...

Above is (from the left) Mozart, a Muskateer, Constanza, a lady for the Muskateer, the Center is a purchased Josephine and a Titanic Rose - I didn't do anything to them.  Behind Rose is my Phantom of the Opera and Christine, and next to Rose is Beethoven.  Here, Rose is actually Countess Julia, one of Beethoven's loves.

In this photo we have a replacement Romeo and a Lady for my purchased Queen Elizabeth doll.

In the center - St Francis of Asisi.

Mixed Seasons

I finally finished my Haunted Wedding Party.  It was my first experience with molding paste gel medium, and it was great.

These charming creatures were bargain plastic wedding figurines and Dollar Tree skeleton heads.  It would be best to get figuringes that have hair pulled up to make it easier to decapitate them and glue on the new heads.  I was experimenting with the paints.  The girl on the far left was done in lavender and black.  I think I like the green better.

Moving on to Easter, I made decorated some burlap bags with printed fabric and seam binding.  I think they turned out very pretty - understated, not gaudy.

I also tried my first Origami Egg, only I couldn't find the origami paper I had bought for tghe purpose (it's somewhere in my craft room) so I used a very Easter looking paper from Studio 112.  It's a bit too thick for the purpose, but it's still a pretty decoration.  I found some good directions on http://www.marthastewart.com/article/elegant-eggs
